Manhattan movers

Reliable movers in Manhattan

From fifth-floor walk-ups in the East Village to doorman co-ops on the Upper East Side, we move Manhattan apartments every week. Our trucks leave Brooklyn and reach the Lower East Side in about 25 minutes and Harlem in under an hour, so we start early, before the avenues jam up.

We send your building its certificate of insurance, book the freight elevator and plan where the truck can stop before the day. Call or text (212) 555-0142, or open the chat: we answer in under a minute with a clear hourly or agreed price.

Quick answer

How much does a Manhattan move cost?

Most Manhattan apartment moves cost $650–$1,100 for a 1-bedroom and $1,100–$1,900 for a 2-bedroom. We charge $165 an hour for two movers and a truck, with a 3-hour minimum, or we agree a fixed price up front. What pushes a Manhattan move up is stairs above the third floor, long waits for a shared freight elevator and a long carry from where the truck can stop. Send a few photos or do a quick video walkthrough and we'll tell you which end of the range you're on.

Why choose us

Why Manhattan picks Example crews

  • We handle the building paperwork

Most co-ops and condos want a certificate of insurance naming the building and its managing agent. We send it straight to your management office, usually the same day you ask.

  • Walk-ups are normal for us

Five flights with a sofa is a regular Tuesday. We bring enough hands for the stairs, pad the banisters and measure tight turns before anything gets stuck.

  • Routes planned for a box truck

Trucks can't use the FDR Drive, the Henry Hudson Parkway or the Brooklyn Bridge, so we plan the crossing and the avenues ahead of time and build the timing into your quote.

They packed our whole kitchen in under three hours and every wine glass made it to the new apartment. Jordan double-boxed my grandmother’s china without me even asking.

We moved 20 desks out of our Midtown office on a Friday night and opened Monday morning like nothing happened. Luis had a floor-plan number taped to every desk, so the new space was set up before we walked in.

I’m a grad student, so I needed cheap and honest. Dana told me straight that my move would cost less as a man-with-a-van job than with a full crew, and she was right.

Do you move people within Manhattan, or only to and from Brooklyn?

Both. A lot of our work is Manhattan to Manhattan, like an East Village walk-up to an Upper West Side elevator building, and we quote it the same way: hourly or an agreed price.

Do I need to tell my building about the move?

Yes, as early as you can. Most doorman and co-op buildings want a reserved move date, a certificate of insurance and sometimes a deposit; we check your building's rules and send the paperwork for you.

Can you move me on a weekend?

We work Monday to Saturday, but many Manhattan co-ops and condos only allow moves on weekdays during set hours. Check with your management office first and we'll fit the booking around their rules.

How long does a typical Manhattan move take?

A 1-bedroom usually takes 4–6 hours including the drive; a 2-bedroom in a walk-up can take most of the day. Elevator bookings and where the truck can stop make the biggest difference.

Where will the moving truck park?

New York City generally doesn't issue parking permits for moving trucks, so we plan around it. We check hydrants, loading zones and street-cleaning hours on your block and aim to arrive when spots open up.
